About Jess

Jessica Furtado is a multidisciplinary artist who works in photography, poetry, and collage. Her product designs have been featured in O: The Oprah Magazine, Fortune, & InTouch Magazine. She is a the owner of former business and popular Etsy shop, All You Need is Pug, which was highlighted as an Etsy Featured Seller and featured in multiple Etsy Editors' Picks lists. Jessica's writing and visual art have appeared in dozens of publications, and her debut chapbook A Kiss for the Misbehaved is available from BatCat Press.

Jess has over 15 years of experience as a photographer, specializing in portraiture, colorful flatlays, and capturing artists and businesses in action. She is available for photo sessions throughout Massachusetts and New England.

An entrepreneur since the age of 16, Jess enjoys helping fellow artists and small businesses to tell their stories. Her broad range of skills makes her a versatile freelance assistant, and she supports creatives in becoming more visible through authentic photography and branding. Jess is also experienced in writing clearly communicated copy, and helping businesses to build social media presence.

As a public librarian by day, Jess has garnered a passion for programs & events, and she now enjoys teaching workshops on collage and creative writing. She also shares prompts and resources for fellow creatives through her newsletter and social media.

2023 Little Free Library & Art Gallery designed and built for Cogswell Artspace in Haverhill, MA. Project in collaboration with Creative Haverhill & funded in part by a grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council & Massachusetts Cultural Council.

2023 FLORAL FIXATION solo mixed media exhibition at Art Up Front Street in Exeter, NH.

2022  Second Nature: Portraits of Resilience exhibition.  Community portrait project in collaboration with Creative Haverhill & funded in part by a grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council & Massachusetts Cultural Council.

2021   Commissioned designer of Haverhill Art Walk poster and map series for Creative Haverhill.

2020  Artist-in-Residence at The Switchboard in Haverhill, MA, followed by exhibition of Firsthand: A Portrait Project to Close the Distance. Project highlighted on the front pages of The Eagle Tribune, Haverhill Gazette, and Haverhill Life.
